ICYMI: Our Revolution Illinois Endorses Villivalam for 8th District State Senate

Chicago (Mayfair) - Today, Democratic Candidate for State Senate Ram Villivalam (IL-8) announced the endorsement of Our Revolution Illinois.

“Ram has a strong, proven track record of fighting for the working families of Illinois,” said Clem Balanoff, Co-Chair of Our Revolution Illinois, an organization dedicated to building on Bernie Sanders' core set of values -- the values and agenda that electrified Illinois voters in the March 2016 primary and won Bernie Sanders 24 of 50 wards in Chicago, 79 of Illinois' 102 counties, 11 of 18 congressional districts and almost a million votes across the state. “Our grassroots organization is proud to back such a dedicated leader. Ram has long been advocating for the most vulnerable in our society, pushing back on Bruce Rauner’s inhumane cuts to child care for working families, home care for seniors, and Medicaid for those in need. Ram is the only truly progressive voice in this race and the right choice for the 8th district."

“I am honored to have earned the support of Our Revolution Illinois,” said Democratic Candidate for State Senator Ram Villivalam, “an organization that recognizes the importance of sending a new generation of progressive leaders to Springfield. It’s time our political and economic systems truly support working class folks and I’m excited to work with Our Revolution to make that a reality. I pledge to fight for a $15 minimum wage, lowering taxes for working people and raising them for millionaires and billionaires, reducing gun violence in our communities, and providing Universal Healthcare.”

Villivalam has been endorsed by U.S Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider, U.S. Congressman Mike Quigley, U.S. Congressman Danny K. Davis, U.S. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Fmr. Gubernatorial Candidate & Alderman Ameya Pawar, State Senator Laura Murphy, State Senator Omar Aquino, State Representative Theresa Mah, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago Commissioner Josina Morita, the Illinois AFL-CIO, the Sierra Club, the UAW Illinois, Illinois State Association of Letter Carriers, Local UFCW 881, SEIU Illinois State Council, National Nurses United, Our Revolution Illinois, Reclaim Chicago, Equality Illinois PAC, Northside Democracy for America, Citizen Action Illinois, and the Indo-American Democratic Organization.
