Cook County Commissioner and Progressive Icon Jesus “Chuy” Garcia Endorses Ram for Senate

Chicago (Mayfair) - Today, Democratic Candidate for State Senate Ram Villivalam (IL-8) announced the endorsement of Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia.

"I am proud to endorse Ram Villivalam to be the next State Senator of the 8th District," said Commissioner Chuy Garcia. “Ram is the effective, proactive, and truly progressive leader that the people of the 8th State Senate District deserve and have not had for 20 years. Ram has a proven track record in advocating to increase the minimum wage, standing up to Bruce Rauner's cuts to home care for seniors and child care for working families, and protecting the rights of women and immigrants against Donald Trump's hateful rhetoric and dangerous policies. I trust Ram to be a champion for working people and middle class families as the next State Senator, and I look forward to working with him."

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of Commissioner Garcia, a true progressive leader,” said Democratic Candidate for State Senate Ram Villivalam. “Chuy elevates the voices of his constituents--especially those who are often denied a seat at the table--and fights every day to improve the lives of all people. He is an outspoken advocate for his constituents on the issues that matter most: lowering taxes for middle class families while ensuring millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share; equitable education funding; and reducing gun violence in our communities. I look forward to following in his footsteps and being the effective, progressive leader the people of the 8th state senate district deserve.”
