CHICAGO -- The following is a statement from State Senators Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago), Laura Fine (D-Glenview), Ram Villivalam (D-Chicago), and Julie Morrison (D-Lake Forest) in response to news that U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) will travel to Illinois as a special guest at a fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (R-Oakland):
“Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene will visit Illinois to raise money for the re-election of her hate-spewing colleague Mary Miller. They represent everything we have been working against in Illinois.
"Through the leadership of Senate President Don Harmon and Senator Julie Morrison, Illinois Senate Democrats this year successfully expanded voting access to preserve democracy, while our Republican counterparts have done everything they can to stifle it, including standing silent while these two fueled a deadly insurrection in the U.S. Capitol with their antisemitic rhetoric.
"If Republicans had a modicum of integrity they wouldn’t welcome Marjorie Taylor Greene to our state with open arms and they would have the courage to speak out against this upcoming hate fest disguised as a fundraiser.”
