Last week Governor Pritzker signed four more pieces of legislation from our community-focused agenda – making a total of 27 bills signed from this legislative session!
-SB 2496 – We amended the Collateral Recovery Act to give the Illinois Commerce Commission greater oversight on repossession businesses and to provide clearer standards of practice for this industry.
-HB 2766 – We amended the Chicago Municipal Article of the Illinois Pension Code to allow annuitants to pay dues to a labor organization of their choosing. This was an initiative of our brothers and sisters at AFSCME on behalf of the workers and retirees they represent.
-HB 2521 – This law protects and preserves the right to lawful strike in Illinois by establishing workplace protections for employees that exercise that right. I worked with the essential workers represented by SEIU Local 73 on this legislation.
-HB 2499 – This law contains recommendations from the U.S. Coast Guard's Auditor General to align Illinois’ Boat Registration and Safety Act with federal rules and regulations. I worked with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources on this legislation.
